FAQ
Short answers to common questions about rights, privacy and money.
Can I sell traces from my job?
Usually not without permission. Many employment agreements and client contracts give the employer rights to the work and require confidentiality. You are responsible for only approving projects you have the right to share. When unsure, mark the project private.
Do I keep ownership of my traces?
You keep whatever rights you have. You grant us a license to process the traces and to sublicense them to AI developers, as described in the contributor terms.
Is open source work fine?
Often yes, but check the license and your contributor agreements. The conversation with your agent may contain more than the public code, such as plans or credentials.
What models can be in my traces?
Any. Traces record which models produced each reply. Some agent providers have terms about how outputs may be used. Review them for the tools you use.
Do you sell my email or identity?
No. Buyers receive scrubbed traces and dataset level metadata. They do not receive your name, email or account ID.
Why US only?
Payouts, tax reporting and consent rules differ by country. We are starting where we can do them properly. Anyone can still run the local preview.
Can I see what was uploaded?
Yes. The dashboard lists each trace with its project label, source, status, redaction counts and estimate.
Can I delete everything?
You can exclude every unsold trace from the dashboard. To close your account, email hi@selltraces.ai from your account address. Sold traces stay licensed to their buyers.
What does the platform share pay for?
Server-side review, storage, dataset packaging, finding buyers, legal work and payouts.
How do I report a security issue?
